To me there is nothing more annoying than hearing a musician CHUNK<\/strong>!!!!\u00a0 What do I mean by CHUNK?\u00a0 It\u2019s a not a musical term\u2014just a \u201cPam\u201d term!<\/em><\/p>\n

I call it CHUNKING when someone plays the same chord on every syllable\u00a0or every beat of the song.\u00a0 It can also happen whenever\u00a0a person\u00a0comes to the end of a musical phrase and\u00a0doesn’t know what else to do–so\u00a0they just\u00a0CHUNK on the same chord\u00a0until it is time to change\u00a0to another chord.\u00a0 \u00a0Every measure sounds like:<\/p>\n

| CHUNK\u00a0\u00a0 CHUNK\u00a0\u00a0 CHUNK\u00a0 CHUNK |\u00a0 CHUNK\u00a0 CHUNK\u00a0 CHUNK\u00a0 CHUNK |<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re doing that\u2014it\u2019s time to learn something new!!!!<\/p>\n

When I hear someone CHUNKING, it reminds me of a can of chunked pineapple\u2014all uniformly cut!\u00a0 Music should never sound like chunks of pineapple!\u00a0 Can you say BORING!!!\u00a0 Besides that\u2014if you have a good drummer, you are \u201cfighting\u201d<\/em> your drummer to set the rhythm.<\/p>\n
