{"id":1863,"date":"2019-06-05T12:24:17","date_gmt":"2019-06-05T16:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pentecostalmusicians.com\/PMblog\/?p=1863"},"modified":"2019-06-05T12:24:17","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T16:24:17","slug":"just-pennies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pentecostalmusicians.com\/PMblog\/?p=1863","title":{"rendered":"Just Pennies!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Not too\nlong ago, we presented our 4-year old great nephew, Huntley, with a gallon jug\nfilled with pennies!&nbsp; We learned that\nearlier this year he took all the silver coins from his piggy bank (about\n$30.00) and presented them to his Mom to give toward a special Mother\u2019s\nMemorial offering. &nbsp;&nbsp;Because he has such\na giving heart, we decided to \u201cbless\u201d him with the jug of pennies which had just\nbeen sitting idly in our garage to replenish his \u201csavings.\u201d Banks don\u2019t accept\nwrapped anymore and it was just too much \u201cbother\u201d to take them to a coin\ncounting machine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Huntley\nwas surprised and puzzled but excited to get his jug of pennies!&nbsp; &nbsp;We\nmade sure his Mom explained to him that we were proud of his giving heart and\nwanted to bless him with some replacement coins\u2014even if they were just pennies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Later, I\nbegan to feel guilty for not giving Huntley silver coins\u2014I was certain that even\na jug of pennies wouldn\u2019t amount to much.&nbsp;\n<strong>But then I got the pictures and message!<\/strong>&nbsp; Huntley had proudly taken his jug of pennies\nto the coin counting machine and had been awarded with $50.00 in cash in\nexchange!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pentecostalmusicians.com\/PMblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Huntley-cash-machine-e1559750764643.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.pentecostalmusicians.com\/PMblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/Huntley-with-cash-1-e1559751083400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"198\" height=\"264\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So of\ncourse, I began to think of how this little story could be applied to the parable\nof the talents!&nbsp; Instead of just allowing\nthe pennies to continue to sit in the jug, Huntley went to work with what he\nhad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What abilities\nor knowledge <strong>do you have just sitting idly in a \u201cjug\u201d<\/strong>?&nbsp; How many times has a music teacher or friend\ngiven you several nuggets (pennies) of information that you could use to build\nupon and grow your talent?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tips\nto learn to read notes efficiently.<\/li><li>Tips\nto make it easier to learn simple chords.<\/li><li>Tips\nto memorize and use advanced chords<\/li><li>Inverting\nchords. <\/li><li>Basic\nchord progressions to make your playing smoother.<\/li><li>Tips\non counting rhythm<\/li><li>Tips\non learning to listen to progressions which can be applied to many songs.<\/li><li>And\nmore\r\n.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Of course,\n\u201ctalents\u201d not only apply to learning music but every aspect of our Christian\nlife.&nbsp;
